About

All domains of modern biology are increasingly dependent on computation and this dependence on algorithms is most readily apparent in the disciplines that utilise genetic data.

As the volume of data increases, demand for algorithms and packages capable of handling those volumes also increases. Major published projects in the lab are PyCogent and QIIME. We are also developing novel techniques for phylogenetic analysis of whole genomes, an area called phylogenomics.

Students would have the opportunity to interact with numerous bioinformaticians, computer scientists and statisticians both here at ANU and internationally.
