College of Science Dean’s Commendation - Excellence in Supervision

I have developed more academic skills under his supervision in the past year than in the four years of my undergraduate and honours education at ANU. He provided an environment that allowed me to leverage my skills to fit into a unique role as a developer of bioinformatics methods. Professor Gavin Huttley is a leading bioinformatics expert and an outstanding mentor whose professionalism, depth of knowledge, and commitment to student development are widely recognised. His kindness, empathy, and genuine care inspire confidence and ambition in those he mentors, creating a culture of excellence and continuous learning. Two hundred words is not enough the describe how phenomenal his supervision has been. He advances his students as researchers by developing their intellectual rigour, disciplinary expertise, ethical research practices and a spirit of innovation, and continuous learning.
