Polly Hannaford

Polly’s doctoral research aims to deliver scientific information and tools to reduce the risk of the introduction, establishment and spread of exotic aquatic animal pathogens and the associated significant economic, social, environmental, and cultural implications.

Prior to commencing her PhD, Polly was an Assistant Director at the Commonwealth Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Whilst working for the Australian Public Service (2019-2023), Polly used her science background to develop biosecurity import policies and contribute to trade negotiations to facilitate the safe trade of commercially important aquatic animal goods.
