Join us for a live webinar to learn more about the Master of Biotechnology, Master of Science in Biological Sciences and Master of Science in Quantitative Biology and Bioinformatics. This webinar will include information about the course structure and career outcomes. Most importantly you will be able to ask any questions about studying at Australia's number one university
About the programs
Master of Biotechnology
The Master of Biotechnology positions you at the forefront of innovation. You will study alongside our leading researchers, working on issues of global importance in areas of biochemistry and molecular biology in the biomedical, animal and plant sciences.
Master of Science in Biological Sciences
This program allows you to work on issues including international food security, new treatments for cancer, and fighting malaria drug resistance. Breakthroughs in this research are brought straight to the classroom through a range of diverse courses. Specialisations include biomedical sciences, ecology and evolution, genetics, and plant sciences. Alternatively, you can choose a broad overview of biological sciences.
Master of Science in Quantitative Biology and Bioinformatics
Our Master of Science in Quantitative Biology and Bioinformatics will put you at the forefront of developing the tools to make sense of a new data-driven world. This program equips you with the methods and tools to organise and analyse biological data, statistically, mathematically and computationally. It is a truly interdisciplinary program that caters to students from a range of backgrounds including biology, mathematics and computer science.
Advanced programs
Each of these three degrees have an advanced program available. The Advanced programs focus on completing a substantial research project and dissertation, which constitutes appropriate research training for a PhD.
Presenters
Associate Professor Antony Millar
Anthony Millar is an Associate Professor and Senior Lecturer at the Research School of Biology . His research interests lie in plant physiology, biochemistry and cell biology, genetics and plant biology. He is the head of the Millar Lab which focuses on one type of small RNA known as microRNAs (miRNAs), many of which have been shown to play pivotal roles in many developmental and physiological processes, in both plants and animals.
Dr Rachael Remington
Dr Rachael Remington is a researcher, lecturer and convenor of the Biology Teaching and Learning Centre at the Research School of Biology. Her research interests lie in freshwater fishes: from investigating patterns of desert larval fish drift ecology to evolution of turbid-water traits in North American minnows. One highlight of her research has been working with amazing aquatic critters from desert spring systems in Ash Meadows (USA), Cuatro Cienegas (Mexico) and Dalhousie Springs (Australia).
