Description

We would like to invite those of you with interest and newfound time to participate in basic computational training over the next five weeks. Beginning 20 April, two concurrent Zoom "courses" will run: one on R and statistical modelling (Mondays and Thursdays from 13.30 - 16.00) and one on python, bash and informatics (Tuesdays and Fridays from 9.30 - 12.00). These are (obviously) being delivered remotely with facility for asynchronous study, i.e. so those with conflicting obligations can still enrol. The details are summarised below:

• Two courses are on offer for beginners:

- R and statistical modelling on Monday and Thursday afternoons 13.30 - 16.00.

- Python, bash, and bioinformatics on Tuesday and Friday mornings 9.30 - 12.00

• Each course will have two training sessions a week. Each session will have a 1-hour core component followed by 1-hour non-obligatory hands-on exercise. There will be a 15-minute break after the first hour.

• All training sessions will be delivered via Zoom. All sessions will be recorded and posted for availability to asynchronous students. Exercises can be done at any time, supported by a channel dedicated to questions from those with asynchronous engagement hours.

All are welcome to participate, including students, academic staff and professional staff. The material is introductory and meant to be accessible to a wide audience.

>>> If you wish to participate, please register here

Finally, for those of you better positioned to be trainers than students, the more the merrier! This is a grass-roots, volunteer effort that has been marshalled in *very* short order. If you might like to volunteer as a trainer or facilitator, please also use the registration form above. Note which course(s) are of interest and enter "I AM INTERESTED IN BEING A TRAINER" for Question 3.
