A new joint initiative between ANU and CSIRO, the Centre for Biodiversity Analysis (CBA), has been formed to coordinate, develop and promote the rapidly expanding field of biodiversity science between the two institutions.

The Centre for Biodiversity Analysis will focus on plant and environmental sciences, particularly Australia's half a million unique living species. Centre Director Craig Moritz says the centre will help to address climate change and sustainable agriculture issues. "The environment department have within its policies on the national reserve system trying to protect genetic as well as species diversity," Professor Moritz said. "So there's no shortage of policies that are relevant but which are lacking the information to put them into effect."
