Jan Anderson was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science in 1987. Election to the Fellowship of the Australian Academy of Science recognises a career that has significantly advanced the world's store of scientific knowledge. Jan was the first to show that the photosynthetic mechanism comprises two fundamental components: photosystem I and photosystem II. Jan Anderson died on 28 August 2015.
