Regulation of cricket salivary glands

Examines the way that feeding affects the morphology and chemistry of the insect salivary gland.  Recently we have identified a pair of salivary lobes in the head of the cricket and the research would investigate the role of peptides and amines on fluid movement throught the gland to identify whether these specialised lobes are involved in endocrine distribution.  Techniques would involved various aspects of microscopy and physiology to characterise these glands further.
