ANU team for Australasian Synthetic Biology Challenge 2021

THE AUSTRALASIAN SYNBIO CHALLENGE

We’re looking for 10 ANU undergraduate students to form a team and take part in the Australasian Synthetic Biology Challenge (https://www.aussynbiochallenge.org) in 2021. This year, at least 8 University teams from around the Australia and New Zealand will come together to design, build and test their ideas, showcasing them for industry and government sponsors.

The challenge is designed to grow the local SynBio community. You will come up with your own ideas but will be mentored and supported by a group of academics, ~$8,000 budget to implement them! This is an exciting opportunity to gain some expertise and exposure in a growing area and the chance to interact with the synbio industry in Australia. You will be able get credit for the project via BIOL3188.*

SynBio startups are creating everything from lab grown meat, drought resitant crops and green biofuels. Global Investment in SynBio is currently $4 Billion US dollars per year.

So, if you’re interested in synthetic biology, or just want to find out more, then come along to an upcoming information session (3pm March 3rd, 2021, online and in campus, TBA) or email ANUSynBio@gmail.com
