Distance based inference of population dynamics

Description

The population dynamics of populations can be studied using phylogenetic trees of samples of individuals from a large population.  With the possibility of obtaining large amounts of sequence data from each individual, the challenge is to make these inferences quickly and efficiently.  Distance-based approaches may offer a solution, because they are quick and easy to implement computationally.  This project will develop and evaluate the efficiency of distance based methods to infer the history of population changes.
