Anatomical coordination of water supply and demand

Description

This project tests how vein density and stomatal densitiy are coordinated to maintain a balance between water supply and demand in plants grown under different conditions.  Twenty varieties of wheat have been grown under combinations of CO2 and light levels, and leaves collected for anatomical quanitfication.  The student will be trained to use both macro and micro light microscopy techniques to image leaves and associated methods for quantifying leaf anatomical properties.
