RSB 3-Minute Thesis competition

The 2019 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition is again being run at the ANU. But “What is the 3MT?” I hear you ask. To summarise it simply, the 3MT is a competition for PhD students to showcase their research. Students have to talk about what their research is and why it is important in plain language for three minutes, with only a single PowerPoint slide. The 3MT is an exercise that helps students to consolidate their ideas and crystallise their research discoveries into a talk that their parents could understand.

Yes, we have our own 3MT event in RSB. Winner and Runner Up monetary prizes in the RSB will be awarded.

The RSB 3MT event will be held over lunch on Thursday 25th July. This will allow participants to attend the July 3rdHow to win the 3MT and July 17th3MT Clinicworkshops being run by the Research Skills and Training (RSAT) team (led by Victoria Firth-Smith and Inger Mewburn).

All PhD (and MPhil) students are eligible to participate in the RSB 3MT comp. These students can also enter the COS/CHM joint colleges 3MT competition being held on Friday the 9th of August (even if you don’t participate in the RSB 3MT event).
