Ecology, Evolution and Genetics Honours

FOR CURRENT STUDENTS

Welcome to Honours in EEG, we are delighted to have you as part of our school. The Honours year is both demanding and rewarding and we are here to help you make this year as fruitful as possible. Please do not hesitate to consult any staff member who may be able to help you achieve your research goals.

The Honours Convener will assist you in any way she can. Please let us know as soon as possible if you encounter any problems or difficulties, we welcome any suggestions for improvement of the Honours course.

Learning to manage your time well is critical and this means good forward planning, leaving plenty of time for preparing reports, talks and especially the thesis.

It is the quality rather than the quantity of work that will be assessed. You will learn how to report your findings in a clear and unambiguous manner, and will develop the ability to assess critically the research of others.

Finally, you should gain great satisfaction in producing a thesis, which will be the culmination of your research. Some students go on to publish their work, which is something we strongly encourage.
