AustralasianScience Prize 2009
Thursday 29 September 2009. Dr Michael Roderick, a science researcher from the ANU Research School
of Biology and the Research School of Earth Sciences, was awarded the 2009 Australasian
Science Prize for climate change research into water evaporation rates
in Australia and around the world.
The Research School of Biology is the only School to have received this
award twice. In 2001, Professor Mandyam Srinivasan, Dr Shaowu Zhang and Dr
Javaan Chahl were awarded the prize for extending knowledge of the behaviour
and intelligence of bees to artificial intelligence.
Now in its tenth year, the Australasian Science Prize recognises
outstanding achievement by an Australasian scientist or small research
team. Judging criteria include scientific originality, breadth of impact
and communication to both the scientific and broader communities.
